PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a skin rejuvenation treatment famous for being advertised by the Kardashians. PRP is a product derived from the clients own blood. Blood is taken from the client and put through a process called centrifugation in which the plasma in the blood is separated. This plasma is rich is platelets, platelets promote collagen synthesis and new cell growth therefore aiding tissue repair. PRP stimulates new cell growth, helping to improve skin complexion, texture and to restore lost facial volume.  The end results are younger looking skin and quicker healing times of scars and wounds. It can be used all over the body and is a great treatment for hair loss and stretch marks. PRP therapy has been used for over 30 years in the medical industry including cardiac surgery, orthopaedics, sports medicine and neurosurgery for such reasons.

The PRP procedure

PRP is prepared from an extract of your own blood, therefore you must make sure you drink plenty of water at least 24 hours before and that you avoid fried or fatty processed food.

  • PRP treatment will commonly last between 30 minutes and 75 minutes
  • To do this, a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm
  • The blood is then placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins and separates the platelets from the rest of the blood components
  • Platelet-rich plasma will then be extracted (mixed with biotin solution for hair treatment)
  • The concentrated and growth factor-concentrated platelets are injected either into the face, neck, hands, body or scalp via micro injections
  • Furthermore we offer a gentle microneedling with the plasma over the treated area (not scalp)

Is it safe?

As the platelets are sourced from your own blood there is no risk of an allergic reaction, disease transmission or risk of rejection. PRP is very popular with clients who are reluctant to have a ‘foreign bodies’ such as filler injected into their face; you can improve your appearance using your own cells.

A great advantage of this treatment is that we can inject very close to the eyes where no product is safe. The treatment is fantastic for dark circles and wrinkles around the eyes.

When will I see results?

After 3-4 weeks most clients report an improvement in skin texture and elasticity. Collagen production can take up to 3 months. It is also important to note that because the injected product is 100% your own factors such as smoking, stress and illness can affect results.

How many sessions will you need

The number of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) sessions needed for optimal results may vary depending on the patient’s condition, but typically 1-3 sessions, scheduled 4 weeks apart, are recommended. The benefits of the treatment can last between 12-18 months, and there are no limits to the number of sessions one can have for skin rejuvenation. Touch-up treatments can help maintain the results. Scars and stretch marks can also be improved after 1-3 PRP sessions.

Hair loss

Hair loss is generally caused by a lack of cell renewal in the scalp which makes PRP the perfect treatment as it stimulates the production of new healthy cells. This treatment provides safe results with a very quick recovery and a high success rate. PRP is suitable for male and female pattern of boldness but also for alopecia as it encourages the growth of existing hair follicles, making your hair appear fuller and healthier without resorting to surgery. It is the most natural way to stimulate hair growth without the need for a surgery. Even after hair transplantation PRP is highly recommended on monthly basis in order to support the growth of the transplant, this is a common after care advice with all hair transplants. In order to further support the hair growth we also mix the plasma with Biotin.
